St Vincent's Private Hospital

St Vincent’s Private Hospital is recognised as one of Australia’s leading providers of private health care. The Hospital was established in 1909, with the current facility opened in 1977.

The Hospital is owned by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Australia but is operationally integrated within St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney.

St Vincent’s Private is acknowledged as a world-class medical and surgical facility, providing overnight and day only care across a broad spectrum of specialty areas for patients from the local area, as well as those from interstate and overseas.

Key facilities include inpatient facilities, day surgery, cardiac catheter suite, endoscopy unit and medical imaging services. Areas of particular expertise include cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and urology, and the Hospital is renowned for its advanced technology and expertise in these highly complex surgical areas.

As part of the St Vincent’s Campus, St Vincent’s Private Hospital works closely with St Vincent’s Clinic, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Sacred Heart Hospice to offer an integrated range of services for patients seeking health care.

St Vincent’s Private participates in campus wide teaching programs, including a New Graduate Support Program and continuing education programs. Additionally, in partnership with the University of New South Wales and as a teaching hospital, training and ongoing education is provided to medical students.

The Hospital also provides funding for the Sisters of Charity Outreach, which forms part of St Vincent’s Clinic and was established to provide support services to those in need. Funding of the Sisters of Charity Outreach represents a major part of the Hospital’s commitment to social accountability and service to the poor.
