North Sydney Campus

Mater Hospital
Located on Sydney's North Shore, the Mater is a renowned private hospital specialising in cancer services, joint replacement, bone and sport injuries, maternity and women's health, heart, lung and vascular services, urology and cochlear ear implantation. The Mater Hospital is a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney.

Mater Clinic
The opening of the Mater Clinic heralds one of the most exciting phases of growth and development for the Mater Hospital. Opened in late August by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, the vision for the Clinic was conceived some 28 years ago. The Mater's leading specialists are now located on the Mater Hospital Campus, close to their peers, various hospital services and most importantly; their patients. This colocation will foster the sharing of ideas, research opportunities across different disciplines, and importantly, more integrated care for the patient.

In what Robert Cusack, Executive Director St Vincent's Private and the Mater Hospitals, described as a quantum leap for the Mater, the Clinic is home to approximately 50 specialists now located on site with their patients. The Mater Clinic is based on a similar concept to St Vincent's Clinic which has now been in existence since 1990. This model is developed from the famous United States models of the Mayo, Cleveland and Harvard Clinics that are focused on the three key elements of patient care, clinical research and medical teaching. Importantly the linkage of these three elements at the Mater Clinic will form the basis for excellence in patient care, explained Robert Cusack.
