Government funding for shared electronic health record service

St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney (SV&MHS) recently received funds under the federal government’s personally controlled electronic record program. Also known as PCEHR, a personally controlled electronic record is a secure, electronic record of the patient’s medical history and from July 2012 all Australians will have the option to sign up for a PCEHR. The $6.25 million will be used to develop communication capabilities between hospitals and local GPs. The SV&MHS initiative is one of nine PCEHR projects that received a total of $70 million in funding. Read more…
