Welcome to the St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney website.

St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney (SV&MHS) is part of the national Sisters of Charity Health Service, which is Australia’s largest non-government, not-for-profit health care provider.

The key facilities comprising SV&MHS include St Vincent’s Hospital and Community Health Services, Sacred Heart Hospice and St Vincent’s Private Hospital which operate from the Darlinghurst campus in inner city Sydney; the Mater Hospital which is located in North Sydney; and St Joseph's Hospital and St Joseph's Village located in Auburn.

Collectively, the SV&MHS Group provides a comprehensive range of acute and sub acute health and aged care services from primary prevention through to tertiary level care across community, outpatient and inpatient settings.

Our work in health and aged care is supported by a significant investment in teaching and research in partnership with Universities and affiliated research institutes including the University of New South Wales, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

SV&MHS also has significant relationships with the University of Sydney , the Australian Catholic University , the University of Notre Dame Australia , the University of Tasmania and the University of Technology Sydney .

Commited to excellence, the health and aged care facilities of SV&MHS are recognised both nationally and internationally as leading health care providers.

SV&MHS facilities are also committed to a strong tradition of compassionate response to community need.

Our values derive from the Mission of the Sisters of Charity and the Sisters of Mercy which is based on Christian gospel teachings. These values – compassion, justice, human dignity, excellence, unity, mercy, hospitality and respect – give form to our activities and drive our vision to remain a leading health care organisation operating in both the public and private sectors.
