Mater Lives Committee
The Mater Lives Committee was formed in 1985 by a group of volunteer women to create the awareness that the Sisters of Mercy were building a new private hospital to serve the needs of the community. There was widespread perception that the Mater Hospital had closed following the decision of the State Government to cease funding for the public hospital – thus the name ’Mater Lives’ was conceived.
The Committee now fulfils an important fundraising role for the Mater, holding two events each year with funds raised being directed to the purchase of much needed equipment within the Hospital.
