Eastern Sydney Connect

As part of the personally controlled electronic record program (PCEHR) St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney (SV&MHS) is implementing a shared electronic health record service for participating consumers attending the Darlinghurst campus – St Vincent’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Clinic. Entitled Eastern Sydney Connect (ESC), over the coming 12 months SV&MHS will work with a number of partners to create electronic health records for consumers.

Electronic health records will address current fragmentation of information by allowing easy access to personal health information; the information will also be securely accessible to various health providers involved in the care of the individual.

The electronic health records will improve continuity and coordination of care, as healthcare providers will be able to access key health information on a needs be basis, whilst, enabling the individual to actively participate in their healthcare as they will have improved access to their health information.
